High Efficiency ORC Power Generation up to 5MW - 10MW Single Rated Power Capacity

Based on ORC (Organic Rankine Cycle) technology, SMDERI developed ORC Power Unit which maximally converts the low grade heat in temperature of 80-250 ℃ to electrical energy without extra fuel consumption.

Working Principle:

◇ The low boiling point organic working fluid absorbs the heat inside the evaporate system, then is evaporated to high temperature & high pressure steam.

◇ The high temperature & high pressure steam flows into the turbine expander and make it work, then the temperature & pressure of the steam is lowered down after work.

◇ The working turbine expander drives the generator to create electricity.

◇ The steam with low temperature & pressure after works on the turbine expander flows into the cooling system to be condensed to fluid.

◇ The working fluid is pressured by the fluid pump and flows into the evaporate system for next cycle.

Applications:

• In the fields of waste heat recovery for power generation, covering the industries of refineries, petrochemical plants, steel, cement electrolytic aluminum, dyeing, etc.
• For geothermal power plants.
• Solar concentrated power generation as an essential circulation system.

Three types of ORC Power Unit for waste heat recovery:

• Hot Water Sourced ORC Power Unit: Hot water in temperature of 90-150°C & with flow rate over 300t/h could be used for power generation.
• Process Fluid Sourced ORC Power Unit: The process fluid needed to be condensed (e.g. column top gas, top circulating backflow, oil, etc.) in temperature over 130°C & with flow rate 80t/h could be used for power generation.
• Flue Gas Sourced ORC Power Unit: The flue gas in temperature of 220-550°C & with flow rate over 11x10⁴Nm³/h could be used for power generation.
